Erratum: Editorial in Pan Am J Public Health 15 (2), 2004 by S. Robles & M. Roses Periago entitled “Guanacaste, Costa Rica: A Landmark for Cervical Cancer Prevention”. This article in the Pan American Journal of Public Health highlights the important contributions of the Guanacaste Project to innovations in cervical cancer prevention. It also notes the PAHO’s role as a member of the global Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention (ACCP) in evaluating cervical cancer prevention strategies. The article refers to progress being made by PATH for affordable new screening technologies. In this regard, there is a correction on page 74 (next-to-last paragraph of the article, sixth sentence), which should read as follows:

“On February 2004, PATH launched a partnership with the Digene Corporation, the company that produces the Hybrid Capture test for HPV, in order to develop low cost, easy to use, culturally acceptable tests for cervical cancer screening.” (The original sentence indicates that the ACCP launched the partnership.)
