EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS

PAHO is committed to collaboration with several UN agencies and other international bodies as a key development tool for the improvement of health status in the Region of the Americas.

PAHO's efforts in this direction have included the Coalition Against Violence (IADB, World Bank, OAS, UNESCO, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, PAHO) and the Interagency work in follow up to the Ibero-american Summits (ECLAC, UNICEF, UNFPA, OIJ, OEI).

PAHO has supported health-related activities of the four major subregional integration frameworks in the Region.

PAHO has worked together with UNICEF, the World Bank and many other donors in the Interagency Coordination Committee for Vaccines, and with all major UN agencies in the follow up to global UN Conferences, such as Child Survival, Cairo and Beijing.

PAHO is working together with other UN agencies in the follow up of the decisions from the UNGASS session on AIDS and for the Special Session on Children of the UN General Assembly (10-years review after the 1990 World Summit for Children).
